well.thankfully monarchies are dead? um ,why this false ideological belief in the voting system that is supposed to be democracy?
you have got to read,as a libertarian,Hans Herman Hoppe's "Democracy the god that failed".social democracy is an uncivilizing force.wouldnt one prefer a king like the royals of travancore to the nehru -thackeray spectrum?

pravin

I am familiar with Hoppe's views. I disagree that monarchy is better. It puts too much power in a small set of people. I don't think looking at a nation as one family's perennial private property is going to be better than elected politicians, short-term though they might be.

I go by Ron Paul's words. Freedom is still a new idea. It is tyranny that is old. In India at least, we have so much to do before we can even all ourselves a democracy. So it doesn't make sense to give up already :)

color me cynical, but the whole idea of a lokpal is not to decentralize power, but it is to add another govt layer and hope it is staffed by divine and fair minded omniscients -they better be such, because we want to give them omnipotence, pretty much.
the lokpal is a step backward.but the agitation is a step forward.i love it when those in power lose legitimacy

"the lokpal is a step backward.but the agitation is a step forward.i love it when those in power lose legitimacy"

My sentiments exactly :)
